Local Interest

  • Belchamp Folly – Walk down Hall Lane from the centre of the village and across the playing field you will see Belchamp Folly. There’s a fair amount of speculation about its true origins but ambling along the field you can devise your own theory. Follow the marked footpath and you can then cut across the field to take in St Mary the Virging Church and Belchamp Hall before joining the main lane to return to the village.
  • Belchamp Hall – A Queen Anne period house of rich red brick, with a front nine bays wide and of two storeys below a cornice and solid parapet. The Hall and its grounds is registered under the Historic Buildings and Ancient Monuments Act 1953, within the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens by English Heritage for its special historic interest.
  • Wool Town Walks – Walking the Clare to Sudbury leg of the Wool Town Walks? Make Belchamp Baps the ideal stop off point on the 4th Sunday of the month. We’d love to see you.
